Are you aboriginal?:No
If so, which nation(s) do you belong to? n/a
Are you enrolled in these nations? n/a
Do you reside on a reservation? No, though I have visited one- there's one right down the road for us, and that's where my dad buys his cigarettes,
Do you participate in traditional/religious activities? Haven't really figured that aspect of my life out yet.
Have you ever been to a PowWow? Have you participated or just watched? Yep! About two years ago. I was a viewer, not a participant.
Have you always grown up with your aboriginal heritage, or are you having to reclaim it? n/a
Do you speak a First Nations language? Unfortunately no, though I'm thinking about studying some at university.
What is the most important part of being an aboriginal? I don't think I'm qualified to answer.
For those not of a First Nation ancestry: What brings you here? In ninth grade, I did a project on First Nations land claims, and I've been studying the surrounding issues separately ever since. Through this, I've developed an interest in Native culture and the issues facing First Nations groups. _nativeamerican has a link to this community in their profile, and I thought that, seeing as how I'm Canadian, this was the best place for me to expand my understanding of how best to be an ally. Basically I'm going to sit quietly, listen, and learn.
